About Me

Namaskaramu, Namaste, Hola, Bonjour, Ni Hau, Welcome to my personal life section. If you want to know what I do for living, see below video (Jokes apart, see my professional section).

While I work hard to make sure my career is on its best path, I also enjoy life to the fullest. I was born and bought up in a small town called Piduguralla in INDIA. I am the youngest in my family (thus, a lot of pampering).

Family

If you ask my mom about how much I earn or what I do at work, I bet she would have no idea. The only thing that she cares about is whether I am happy and if I am having food on time. As a kid, when I would tell her that I’m sleepy on a day before the exam, she gets me blanket instead of tea/coffee. Amount of love I receive from her is immense. I talk to her at least 30 minutes literally every other day.

Though he did not study well, my dad made sure that all of us got excellent education. He loves travelling the world and I love taking him around. I still remember the moment when he had tears in his eyes during my CMU graduation ceremony. He is very proud of all his children which makes all of us happy and proud as well. Whenever I call him these days, first question he would ask is “did mom not pick up the phone?” haha.

My siblings still treat me like a 10 year old kid and pamper me immensely. My elder sister is my go to person whenever I have to convince someone in family (she is best at it) and my younger sister is my go to person whenever I want to tease someone. Almost 80% of my wardrobe is occupied with the clothes either selected or bought by these two sisters. Both of them are married to the best husbands my family could ever ask. My elder sister has a 14 year old daughter who is my second go to person when I want to tease (which is why she hates me ;)).

My brother is one of the smartest business minds that I have ever seen. He is one among the persons who strongly believed that I can get into CMU and encouraged me to apply. His serious attitude towards my education as a kid is what that defines my profile today. He is another person my niece hates as she is his go-to person as well to tease (my niece says he is better than me for which he feels very happy). He is married to one other best person our family could wish. They have a lovely 8 month old son who I believe will be an actor (the expressions he gives at this age are mind blowing. He also gives a lovely smile every time he looks into the camera which is one key important requirement that an actor need).

All the family pictures so far have one of the above persons missing. I will be uploading an entire family picture (including the 8 month old nephew) very soon!

Besties

These are the 3 idiots (Sowmith, Kothuri , Anil) whom I can call even at 3 am and start talking random things. 99% of their comments on my social media posts are sarcastic/trying to pull my leg (well, that’s how besties are meant to be, right?)

Countries travelled (Luckily 70% of these are business trips)

  • U.S.A (States: Arizona, Georgia, California, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington)
  • Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Skye, Glencoe, Loch Lomond, Fort William)
  • France (Paris, Grenoble cities)
  • Canada (Ontario province)
  • Ireland (Dublin city)
  • INDIA (I was born here and so visited multiple states ☺)

Favorite spots

Scotland, Niagara Falls and Paris

Cuisines I tried (I am an Eggetarian)

Indian (Fav!), Ethiopian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Thai, Chinese, French, Moroccan, Italian, Nepalese, Greek, Spanish, Pakistani and Malaysian.

Some cool things about me

  • I donate 0.25% of what I earn every month (a resolution that I made on my recent birthday)
  • During my recent business trip to Las Vegas, I took a personal challenge that I will talk to strangers. After work each day, I spoke to people of different nations for 5 continuous days. I will soon be writing a blog on this experience along with the pictures
  • When I applied for Master’s, I reported vulnerabilities on most of the university websites where I applied and sent the vulnerability reports to professors whom I believed to be on the admission panel (so that my profile would be spotlighted). I always believe in doing things unique. On sharing this incident with my friends, they sent me below meme
  • I learnt HINDI language well in Seattle (not every INDIAN knows Hindi!) just so that I could make heartful conversations with a bunch of good friends who would mostly converse in HINDI
  • First time when I used MSWord, PowerPoint, I was 18 years old. By 22 years of age, I published a book and also presented more than 50 talks.
  • I have a notepad file of 30kb which has “TO DO” items. I sometimes wonder if I can complete all of them in my life-time. Some of the items in the file include Skydiving, Solo World Tour, Drive (/even own) a Lamborghini, Visit Zero gravity zone, learn some cool magic tricks, take CPR training (I hope to help at least 1 person in my life), attend any random court hearings, read body language books and do some prank videos.
  • I can sleep for 48 hours continuously
  • If you ever take me to a mall and ask me to pick 5 shirts, I bet they would all be either Grey/White in color (I know this isn’t ‘cool’ which is why I slowly started buying other colors from last year)
  • I currently stay right in front of Amazon world headquarters in Seattle. I am literally seeing Amazon Day 1 building in 50 feet distance as I type this sentence
  • I am one of those guys who hasn’t watched a single episode of Game of Thrones
  • Almost 99% of the people I asked advice from regarding University selection for my Masters said that I stood absolutely NO chance into CMU. They also recommended me to not waste money by applying to CMU. Exactly 2 years later, I graduated with an outstanding student service award from CMU. During my graduation ceremony, CMU said “Manideep undoubtedly helped raise the profile of CMU and INI”.

What I do in free time?

  • Watching movies and prank videos
  • Play badminton
  • Hangout with friends
  • Sleep

Things I don’t understand

a) Why do people say “I am not trying to be rude/racist/sexist” before they actually make a “rude/racist/sexist” comment

b) Why do people post irrelevant captions with their photos? I recently saw a girl’s photo where she was staring at a wall and the caption for it is “Success comes only after failures”. How is she staring at a wall relates to success/failure?

c) Why did “PPAP” song go viral?

d) Why are only cricketers (in INDIA) and movie stars treated as celebrities and not the people who risk their lives for nation (Army)?

e) Why do I like turning the fan and air conditioner ON and then fully cover with a blanket?

f) Why do some people in U.S.A ask “How are you doing?” when they really do not expect an answer

Most frequently asked question to me

Can you teach me how to hack? Can you hack my girlfriend/boyfriend account?

Profession I respect the most

Army

What would I be if not a security engineer/ What I really wanted to become?

Politician, Astronaut, Army person or a Movie star.

Things I regret not doing

Not applying for MIT and Stanford for my Master’s despite my brother asked me to. I might still have ended up going to CMU (since CMU is the best for Information Security) but I would have at least got to know if I was an MIT/Stanford material.

Bad habits

Teasing my niece and younger sister (may be good habit? Definitely not for my niece ;)) Procrastination

People I admire the most

No one. I usually prefer not to have any admirers or take inspiration from anyone but I strive hard to be the best in whatever I do and inspire others.

I can speak

English, Telugu and Hindi
